Canberra! How awesome you are.

PHEW!!!
Handmade Market was fabulous as usual, thank you to my lovely customers for choosing something bold to take home - you all make me so proud to be Canberran!! I had a great little spot, and it was so lovely to be visited by some incredible regular customers and new fans, most surprised to see so much colour here in Canberra!

A few of my favourite, but last minute, additions came home with me from the market, so these are still available to buy. Make sure you check out the 'Furniture Gallery' tab at the top of the blog to check out what is currently for sale...

Since the market, I've made a start on loads of lovely custom orders which will keep me busy for the rest of the month. Here are the first ones completed so far: an adorable nursery chair in Dove Grey 'Love' print, and a pair of huge bed side lamps in teal 'Fanpods'...
 Awesome!
Very excited to get moving on the others, stay tuned for some fabulous projects coming up!
It's still school holidays and I'm holding on (to my sanity that is!)

Hope you are too! xx

10 DIYs of Summer: Part 2

A brand new renovation has just been completed at Casa Ribena. I've gone classic and affordable with the permanent fittings, and now what we need are the unique personal touches. Stay tuned for my 10 DIYs of summer - maybe you can be inspired to do something for your own space! Here's part 2...
..................................................................................
Lighting the way in my new boudoir was always going to be something interesting and unique. While big name designer lights are covetable and showstopping, they also come with big price tags - and even still don't end up entirely unique anyway. Naturally, the only option for me is to customise something in a way unlike anything you can buy...

I chose a fairly Plain Jane 'Renata' 5 arm not-quite-chandelier at Bunnings and chose some urban romantic papers from Typo to give the shades a new look.
I also simultaneously watched evening television and covered my fingers neatly in glue.... lovely!

Darling, it's totally glamorous in a non fluffy-girly way.

Above, just a taste of what you will find - if you're quick enough!! And I'm still working on new pieces not yet photographed. Please do drop in and say hi, don't be shy!

See you there, xx

Something for Rachelle Rachelle...

Ever since it was sold at the last Handmade Market, this lamp shade has been coveted by friend and fellow designer of sassy accessories Rachelle, from Prim & Pretty. Finally the planets aligned for a re-make and this time, this gorgeous baby has her name on it. Beautiful!

Do you have something special in mind? Email me and we'll see what we can arrange! xx

I've been: designing fabrics!

Something new... I've been designing my own fabrics for some special upcoming DIY projects this summer. The collection is full of bold graphic statement fabrics...

I'm very inspired by Johnathan Adler's Happy Chic concept, David Hicks (amazing 60's designer) and Kate Spade (fashion designer)...

So far I have 16 designs, you can see them here on Spoonflower... I simply can NOT wait to see how they look printed on the fabric!!! Samples are on the way... squee!

A couple of things for the market...

Nina's been one busy mamma for a while and here's a few reasons why...
I have been making cushions, covering and colouring lamps and styling them up ready to serve to Canberra's Handmade Market this Saturday (at Canberra's Albert Hall). Preparations appear to be complete... so may I introduce Tango & James nest Autumn 2009...

If you are in town, please stop by the market and say hello - I'll be up on the stage inside the hall... can't wait!

Love Nina xxx
